Bollywood Tollywood Kollywood

A total of 1966 films were made in the country out of which
  1. 349 were in Telugu,
  2. 326 in Tamil and
  3. 263 in Hindi.
During the previous year while a total of 1724 films were made,
  1. 292 were in Tamil,
  2. 280 in Telugu and
  3. 255 in Hindi.
In fact, as a result of digital technology, more number of small films with low-budgets are being made. A look at the statistics give a much clear picture about how technological is playing an important role. The Indian film industry has made a significant shift towards digital cinema producing fewer celluloid films.

This time only 188 celluloid films were made compared to 744 the previous year. While 1778 digital films were made this year, last time it was 980. This means, 798 films more digital films were made.

It may be mentioned here that though big-budget films starring big heroes give no guarantee of success at the box-office, digital technology which has spurred more filmmakers to make films. Films are being churned out with small budgets with lesser known actors by creative directors with fresh thoughts and idea. Some of the films are reaping rich dividends, though most others are falling by the wayside.
